Summary
Set post season 1. Din and Grogu keep navigating the Galaxy in search of more Mandalorians that could help them find a Jedi for Grogu. It's proving to be a difficult, but especially expensive task. Given the circumstances, Din is required to continue accepting non-guild work, which often means higher risk for less credits. Both tired, they decide to take a break. But being a Mandalorian means you can't ever let your guard down.

Ideally he would have found time to reconnect with himself again, find meaning to his existence, and formulate a course of action for his next moves. But he found something else instead. A story of rescuing and being rescued.

Five years after the end of Season 2, upon learning that Omera and Winta are in danger, Din and Grogu leave their duties behind to help them. When brought together, Din and Omera have to face the tension they sparked years ago that has burned subtly beneath the surface since. After years on their own, each have a lot of unresolved feelings and tension to work through while all involved try to figure out where they belong, and what sort of life they want to live.

Din is nine years old when The Tribe takes him in. He is thirteen when Paz stops being his friend. He is fifteen when he is chosen to train as a hunter. He is seventeen when his teacher is killed and he has to hunt alone.
“Hey, it’s time to let go,” he said, his voice uncharacteristically soft for a member of Death Watch. “We’re here.”
The child clearly didn’t want to, but he let himself be put down on the ground and looked around curiously, taking in the gently swaying trees and the blue sky. The sun was bright today and Mandalore was an immense outline in the sky. It caught the child’s attention and Keb watched his young eyes widen in wonder before he spotted the other shuttle and the huge man in front of it.
The warrior crouched down to the child’s level. “This man is going to take you to your new home,” he said, gesturing to Keb. “There are other children there, some of them foundlings like you. They’ll train you to be strong, and one day, if you want to, you can be one of us.”Can be read independently from the previous story in this series
