When Chu Wanning committed himself to find a way to destroy the flower plaguing Mo Ran's heart, there were occasions when he thought all of his efforts would turn out to be a fruitless endeavor.
Asking him to end the cycle of boundless bloodshed through logic never worked, as Mo Ran had no capacity to feel remorse about the suffering he perpetrated. Every conversation surrounding this topic usually ended with Mo Ran reminding Chu Wanning of his sins, blaming Chu Wanning for turning him in that way before he stormed off the room, refusing to appear at the Red Lotus Pavilion for days in a row.
All the signs indicated that the curse was too advanced for the situation to ever improve, even less now that Chu Wanning's cultivation was gone. Stubborn as he was, however, he refused to leave Mo Ran drowning in the darkness, and narrowed his focus to the aspects of the problem that could be within his control. He began to pay attention to the inconsistencies of Mo Ran's behavior around him, observing a pattern that took him a while to accept.
