Summary
Love was never in the books for Eloise Bridgerton, a proud, well-known independent spinster throughout the ton; however, she also never thought she’d be alone in that. Her siblings have started a new chapter in their lives, while she has remained stagnant at one chapter in her life. It felt like the freedom she believed she had suddenly become a cage that she feared living in. Her single life became what she feared of her future becoming if she were to marry which was a suffocating cage.
Suddenly, a path unfolded for her, a pen pal friendship she stumbled upon with a widowed man with children, Sir Phillip Crane. Through a year of correspondence, a thought appeared in her mind that seemed dangerous enough to consider after he extended an invitation to her to his house. He needed a wife and mother for his children; she needed a companion and freedom. She enjoyed his companionship through the letters and his companionship after they met unchaperoned.
