    It’s been eight years since Katsuki died. Eight years that the blonde has followed Izuku to the ends of the earth as a ghost, and eight years that he’s had time to reflect on…

    Well, everything.

    Then, Izuku is given a quirk (under potentially askew pretenses) that allows him to see and hear spirits.

    As expected, it’s kind of hard to ignore being followed by a ghost—especially when that ghost is someone you see practically every time you close your eyes.

    With Katsuki halfway back into the land of the living, the teacher-remade-hero begins to realize something.

    A lot can change in eight years.

    And Izuku is woefully unprepared for that.

    Midoriya Izuku was not made to be special. Not in any particular form, shape, size or function, it seemed. He didn’t need grandiose, didn’t need all the fame and fortune and riches that seemed so commonplace these days. He didn’t need to be all-powerful, all-knowing, a genius, or well known. And Izuku didn’t want to be greedy, or anything, but he would’ve liked to be special. Just a little bit. Not in a particularly self-absorbed way, but he would’ve liked just a little bit of the special that seemed to surround his peers on the daily. Just about everyone around him had so much special while he had… basically nothing. Maybe a couple hundred years ago, back when quirks weren’t a thing, he would have stood out in a crowd with his green curls, been special and unique for once in his life.

    Knowing his luck, though, he probably would’ve ended up burned at the stake for witchcraft instead. That’s how they used to do it, back in the day, he’s pretty sure. With gingers. Green isn’t red but Izuku’s pretty sure it’s different enough to get him set on fire, back in the day.
    Well. He’s getting burned either way.

    In this world of Heroes, it's so easy to reach out a hand and help another up. In this world of Villains, it's so easy to tear another down.

    It all starts, when Shouta Aizawa finds a young boy dying on the streets. As the police rush to find the boy's attacker, Shouta suddenly finds himself in a position to care for a child who is scared, traumatized and in desperate need of a parental figure. It’s only temporary he tells himself. At least, that’s the plan.

    As each new turn in the investigation continues to add complication after complication, Shouta finds himself increasingly concerned for his young charge – and unwilling to give up a responsibility he wasn’t sure he wanted in the first place.
