“Hermann, c’mon,” Newt whined, swaying slightly. “Stop being so weird about it. We’re, like, two grown-ass adults, we can talk about feelings, and shit, like adults or whatever.”
Hermann raised his eyebrows at the noticeable slur in Newt’s voice, despite feeling pleasantly buzzed himself. He’d usually have less than kind words to say about his inebriated state, but… glass houses, and whatnot.
“Fine, Newton, we can talk about our… feelings, I suppose."
Or, Newt and Hermann realise the obvious with the help of drifting and alcohol.

Summary
There were quite a few things to notice in the less than grandiose hotel room: the chipping wallpaper, the indescribable (though distinctly unpleasant) smell, the questionable stain in the middle of the outdated carpet. What captured their attention most, however, were none of those things in particular, but rather the solitary bed that sat in the middle of the space. It looked as awkward as Newt and Hermann both felt staring at it.

“This isn’t going to work,” they say, voice low and dangerous, and Hermann just shrugs. They’re like a petulant child, he’s learned- always looking to get a rise out of whoever they can. The best weapon is complete indifference.
“I’m sure it’s not,” he says, but their wrists are twitching, always the first sign that Newton isn’t too far off.
He’s fighting, a doctor had told Hermann on the first night Newton spent under the PPDC's watch, as they observed his body thrashing around in the bolted-down chair through the mirrored glass on one wall.
