It had been about two years since they had run away, though only for a day. They’d met their favorite hero, how could they possibly forget something like that?
How could they ever forget feeling safe for the first time in as long as they could remember?
They couldn’t. That much was a fact. But they knew that they also couldn’t go back, no matter how badly they wanted to. It had been two years. Hitoshi was turning sixteen in a few months. They knew they were a lost cause, now. Besides, they had to reach their goal. No matter the cost.

The full moon was reaching its peak in the sky, and Shouta knew that his patrol would be over in not too long, maybe about half an hour before he reached the end of his route.
He slowed on the next roof, peering carefully into the alleyway below, searching for the cat that he knew was usually there. A small grey tabby.
The cat wasn’t there. Something else was.
