The green discolouration obscured the color variation and ridges, but Leon could recognize that symbol anywhere. A memory gasped to life, sputtering like an old car engine, its headlights flashing across the surface of a street sign with faded white lettering, WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY, HOME OF UMBRELLA.

When he put Rose to bed that night, his mind couldn’t help but drift to the sentimentalities of it all. It was hard not to.
Things had been so good for so many years now—well, as close to good as they came. But now he was yet again faced with another life-threatening fight for the people he loved, he felt as if he had been thrown back into the deep of all.
When Claire had shown up at his doorstep unannounced, Chris had known something was amiss. What he hadn’t expected, however, was that for her to claim that his husband had run off on some sort of suicide mission.
The natural conclusion was to go after him.
Or: During the events of RE9, Chris goes after Leon, all the while reminiscing about how they came to be.

“He exits the shower and they just stare into each other's eyes. Chris looked into Leon's like he was searching for an answer. Like there was something his brain was trying to remember about that night at the bar. Leon looked so familiar right now to him, the soft and gentle skin. The hickies littering his neck and shoulders. His heart starts racing but it feels like a piece of the puzzle is missing.
“Do you want an autograph, or should I just sign your forehead?” Chris snaps out of it. Moving to the side. The room faded into a dull blur, but every tiny detail about Leon remained in razor-sharp focus—the slow way he tucked combed his hair back and the smell of whiskey and leather that followed him. “What happened at the bar?...” He asks again.

At least he had a mini-fridge waiting for him back at the hotel, something to drown it all out and forget the pain.But Chris was not letting it go. He kept pushing, kept demanding answers, kept trying to pull Leon back into reality when Leon wasn’t sure he wanted to be there.
Why was everyone so persistent in trying to help him? Why was Chris so angry with him?
Leon didn’t know. And for the first time, he wasn’t sure he wanted to find out.
