    Being alone.
    After years of dealing with that fear, he has obtained a successor.
    Now, he has a new fear to grapple with;

    Losing his child.

    After an eternity of mourning, Wukong now has the chance to do something right- let his little one grow up safely.
    All he has to do is blend into human society and work out custody negotiations with his ex-Mate, Macaque…. Easy.

    “Oh, look who it is!” Wukong says, mock-cheerfully. “My best friend! Really happy to see you, bud! Where’ve you been?”

    Macaque approaches cautiously. He’s not expecting Wukong to try and hurt him, he’s never raised a hand to Macaque in anger in the entire time they’ve known each other, but he’s looking manic, completely different from the Wukong Macaque knows and loves. He looks wild. “Are you...okay?” Macaque asks tentatively, wincing as soon as the words leave his mouth.

    Wukong bares his teeth in a poor imitation of a smile. “Fuckin’ peachy.”

    Macaque leaves, and then subsequently comes back.
