After killing Alma Coin, Peeta failed in preventing Katniss from swallowing the Night Lock. Coriolanus Snow after all, is the only one left who knows her. He enjoyed her distress. “For as long as necessary.” He stood up and before leaving, pushed a button on the projector on the desk. Katniss sucked in a breath and made a noise of distress. Footage of her and Gale kissing just an hour before played in front of her. Snow walked around the desk, pausing in back of her. His hand slid heavy over her shoulder, squeezing just a little. “For your loved one’s sakes, I hope you understand what is expected of you, Miss Everdeen.”
Tears blinded her. She didn’t even think about shrugging his hand off. “What? What is expected of me?”
He stooped just a little. “Why, to do whatever I want you to do, of course. You’re mine. You belong to me now. Your life… your body… your soul… and the lives of everyone you love… all belong to me now. Do you understand?”
