It's been ten years since Rose and the Doctor were left on Bad Wolf Bay, and life is good. Until, that is, they both wake up on the TARDIS, with no idea how they got there, and no idea how to get back home.
Amy and Rory are used to things going wong: it's a side effect of travelling with the Doctor. But they're not used to things going so wrong that the TARDIS seems to have called in reinforcements from across the multiverse.
And the Doctor?
He's nowhere to be found.(Takes place post-Journey's End for Rose and Tentoo, between Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and A Town Called Mercy for the Ponds and Eleven, and during her time in Stormcage for River. As canon-compliant as I could make it.)

The worst thing about the Doctor’s human body is the sleeping. In his opinion, sleep should be optional for everyone, including- especially a Timelord-turned-Human. As a timelord, he could go days without sleep, getting on fine by napping periodically. An hour every day, and that’s exaggerating.
As said Timelord-turned-Human, he needs at least eight hours. And after any substantial physical activity- or alternatively, he thinks with horror, after absolutely no physical activity- exhaustion bugs him, like a hoard of buzzing Daleks, chasing his piddly mind.
When he mentions this specific annoyance to Rose, she just laughs with the air of someone used to dealing with this. Which she is.

There’s a long moment where all that exists is right here: the rain on the window and the warm hand on his chest and the soft breath on his forehead. She’s curled as close to him as two people can be, and it’s been a long time since he’s been vulnerable where someone could see him.
