Summary
A modern Dirty Dancing AU.
Yuuri thinks the summer holiday to a beach resort will be boring, filled with fake laughter and feeble attempts at pretending the last few years of illness and stress hasn't affected him and his family. Everything changes, however, when Yuuri dances with one of the resort instructors; Viktor is talented and mesmerising but his strained relationship with the resort owner, Yakov, means that he's one misstep away from being fired.
When Viktor's dance partner cannot commit to an important dance show, Yuuri offers his assistance despite knowing that his family, if they ever found out, would forbid it. After all, dance almost killed him in the past. But the siren's call to dance again is too strong, and with Viktor's tutelage and attention, Yuuri begins to feel the holiday won't be a complete waste of time.
Knowing his own bad luck, though, Yuuri is just waiting for something to go catastrophically wrong.

“It’s the same as a dance belt,” comes off wobbly around the edges, not quite hot enough yet despite the burn pulsing in the tips of his ears.
Otabek wears hipster briefs with his costumes, because to the great loss of the world at large, Otabek’s costumes are cut roomier in the leg than Yuri’s. Still, he did ballet for the two years before he crapped out, and Yuri is so far from the only guy in the seniors division sporting a tiny strip of fabric under his outfits, so it’s not like Beka shouldn’t fucking recognize a perfectly normal, functional athletic garment when he sees one.
“It’s satin," Otabek points out. "And sparkly.”

Sometimes Yuri forgets that Otabek is older than him. And not just in the "has four years of seniors on him" way or the "his old-ass body is going to crap out of competition before Yuri’s does" way or the "doesn’t have to go to fucking tutoring everyday because he graduated, the lucky bastard" way. Because, like, yeah, all of that’s true, but on any given day it doesn’t particularly matter. They mostly do all of the same stuff, and know all of the same people, and have the same job, so, like, what’s the big deal, right?
