Summary
A confused awakening in the middle of the desert. The scorching heat. An inexplicable void in his mind.
When Kaveh returns to Sumeru, he tries to convince himself that it was all just the aftermath of a heatstroke. But coming home only makes things worse. Extreme exhaustion, the weight of his own insecurities, and Alhaitham’s cold logic -incapable of understanding the abyss Kaveh feels himself sliding into- drag him into an increasingly suffocating paranoia.
As he loses control of his surroundings and his own memories, Kaveh begins to doubt the only thing he has left: his own sanity.

Kaveh blinked, tilting his head. “No? Thatʼs impossible. What kind of question is that? Why would he-”
He was about to ask what exactly was going on when Alhaitham sharply shook his head and raised a hand, gesturing for him to be quiet. The man continued listening to the one-sided conversation playing directly in his mind.
The voice on the other end kept going, hopeful and persistent.
“So... no then? That’s cool. Anyway, I was wondering - do you have, like, a boyfriend?”
Alhaitham’s eyes narrowed. Again, he translated it into something far more innocuous.
“He’s asking if you had a roommate before.”
Kaveh, still confused but trusting Alhaitham’s weirdly serious signals, answered easily. “Yeah, I had one. Same guy, actually. We’ve been sharing this place for a while now.”

Kaveh and Alhaitham suddenly develop a mental link. Whenever one plays a music, the other hears it in their head.

Kaveh stopped so abruptly the passenger walking behind him stumbled into his carry-on.
His gaze collided with the alpha’s once more. From up close, the ocean hidden within those devastatingly beautiful eyes felt endless, inviting him toward depths he was already drowning in - instantly overcome by the dizzying sensation of falling from a cliff overlooking the vast, expansive sea.
