"Armand thought he understood submission as a choice and as a necessity. With Louis, he chose to submit, to engage in scenes where he was hit and spat on and degraded. And he liked it, the feeling of being owned. Not being untethered, for some time. But that was nothing like Daniel’s submission. So relaxed and unburdened. The way he slipped into a softer mindset without losing himself in the process was so foreign. He cherished it. This offering from Daniel was something to hold carefully."

He has friends, even if they've all moved away. A family he loves, even if he doesn't keep in touch. And if the crowds are underwhelmed when he dresses up and calls himself the bard Jaskier, it's only because that life wasn't meant to be his.
There's no reason for him to doubt this--at least not until his future at the Academy is suddenly up in the air, students start dying in the night, and the Butcher of Blaviken comes to town.

Summary
Sure, Geralt was muscley and had beautiful, shapely, irritatingly symmetrical lips and an ass shaped by the hands of the gods themselves but—those features alone have never been enough to do it for Jaskier. He’s not a ruffian. He needs a little more than natural strength, he needs effort. It shouldn’t matter that Geralt is gifted in certain areas because he bathes once a week maybe if they’re lucky and lives in his armor and kisses his horse on the mouth and is otherwise a truly disgusting human. Or not human. A truly disgusting witcher.
So it’s absurd and quite shocking, really, when Jaskier starts to get hard every time he can smell Geralt of Rivia’s sweat.
