Summary
Full bodied nausea slammed into Nathaniel before he could fully grasp the threads of lucidity. His mind dwelled in an ambiguous state that occurred between waking and sleeping. He focused on keeping a steady rhythm in his lungs, and pictured himself…his real self, unfurling in the host he was now bound to. Grievously detailed memories flashed rapidly behind his eyes, unbearable and blinding. A human’s last memories were always torture.

Summary
When Jean calmed enough to notice Jeremy, it took him even longer to notice Jeremy tapping a familiar beat on the pulsepoint where he held Jean’s wrist. Too coincidentally, it matched up with the one that was always playing in his head. A once silly nursery rhyme turned the 1st in a long line of heartbreaking mantras.

Summary
If Jean was smart he’d pull the duvet over his head and suffocate. Forget air. Forget light. Forget Jeremy.
But his eyes. Oh, after he’d gone, how he’d miss Jeremy’s eyes.
And Jean was foolish. Foolish enough to spill all his secrets. Foolish enough to sit frozen, and stare. He wasn’t brave enough to open his mouth and speak when it mattered. To talk through the pain that lingered in his esophagus like a tumor. He’d always been a coward.Am I not allowed to love you?
Jean's first birthday at USC.

Summary
He hadn’t yet realized Jean was scraping his feet, stumbling behind him on the uneven California pavement as the evening went on. Then, Jeremy turned to show Jean yet another cute knickknack he'd picked up. He lifted it– A clown statue, covered in black and white, a beret.
He intended to comically hold it up beside Jean, to see the resemblance. But instead was struck by how the setting sun softened Jean’s usual sharp features.Series

Summary
“Because,” He said. “It’ll feel better. You need to feel better to play exy, right?”
Jeremy felt a twinge, using his fear of exy against him like that. Especially when it was pretty clear Jean would probably be benched at practice tomorrow. But Jean predictably accepted, so Jeremy pressed the cup into his hands.Series

Summary
Aaron appears beside Andrew, looking like a stormcloud, all grey in the eyelids and white in the lips. “What the fuck are you doing, Andrew?”
“Oh hi, Aaron,” Andrew savors the surprise on Tweedledee and Tweedledum’s faces. “We were just talking about you. What’s your favorite movie? Mine is John Wick.”

Summary
It doesn't make sense. Neil was fine. More than fine. He’s safe at home with Andrew, and this should be the best possible ending to one of Neil’s best days, but when Neil squeezes his eyes shut, all he can see is —
Riko grinning with vicious pleasure as he slices Neil open. Riko’s eyes reflecting the glow of the lighter licking Neil’s skin. Riko laughing as a tattoo gun needle digs into Neil’s cheek.
Riko, Riko, Riko, smothering and impossible to escape. Panic knifes through Neil as he yanks uselessly against the handcuffs. No, no, no —
And then he’s saying it aloud, “No, no, no,” because there isn't a gag cutting into the sides of his mouth. Because Neil isn’t at Evermore. He’s at home with Andrew, who’s right there when Neil opens his eyes — only near the foot of the bed now, not touching Neil at all.
Neil has long gotten used to reading the faint shades of emotion that pass for expressions on Andrew’s face. But never, not even in Andrew's medicated, manically expressive days, has Neil seen Andrew wear anything like his current look of horrified shock.
Neil agrees to try the handcuffs in bed. It goes badly. Cue angst and h/c.
