Summary
Sebastian saw Alex crying on the beach when it was raining last summer. He didn't tell anyone about that, he didn't have any reason to.
This summer it seems like the universe kept getting the two to run into each other (and it was definitely never either of them finding excuses to see the other), so it's not surprising when Sebastian felt his face heat up every time Alex would smile. With a little bit of running away, meddling from their friends and ever-so-slight miscommunication (or lack thereof) the two boys found themselves to be a little bit more than friends.
Or an entirely self indulgent story about the two.

Sebastian doesn’t know what to say. This is a layer of Alex that he had no idea even existed before this conversation. He feels a sudden urge to reach his arm out and touch him, comfort him.
Instead his voice turns soft and he tilts his head. “What kind of things do you want to talk about?”

“Hi,” Sebastian echoed, unable to hide the sceptical note in his voice.
His gaze danced over Alex’s face, appreciating its sharp angles and strong chin and plump lips and mature-yet-boyish charm he could only hope to achieve in his wildest dreams. He’d be delusional if he said the man wasn’t handsome, and he’d be even more delusional if he said that didn’t make him green with envy.
Their eyes met, and Sebastian noticed a reddened hue to Alex’s. It looked like he’d been crying hard or— No… wait a second.
“Are you high right now?”
Sebastian receives a text message from the last man in Pelican Town he’d ever expect and takes up on the offer to ditch his friends for the night. Alex explores a hidden side of himself he’s only just discovered, courage like the smoke in his lungs. Neither is sure this isn’t a terrible idea. Neither can stop themselves from finding out.
