“I told you I would throw you over my fucking shoulder,” Kanda spits, brow pinched and eyes hardened. It’s a threat.
Lavi doesn’t feel very threatened, though.
He’s watching him now. Critically. “Yuu… are you okay…?”
Kanda must notice him searching his face for something, and he frowns even harder. "What kind of stupid question is that."

Or, the Lavi rescue aftermath fic no one asked for where neither of them are okay, and Kanda is a bit more fucked up than he's letting on.

Kanda shoves him over and plops down at Lavi’s side, grumpy, frowning, and huffing into a steaming mug of white tea.
Lavi shuffles a bit, sleep addled and uncalibrated, rubbing remnants of sleep from his eye as he shimmies over. “Wha– Yuu…?”
“Shut up," Kanda barks in a weird almost-whisper. "Don't say a fucking word. You looked uncomfortable.”
Lavi watches him for a moment, adjusting the wadded up blanket to cover his shoulders. It’s soft. Nice. Warm.

Lavi huffs quietly into the modest space between them. “Careful there, Yuu, or you might manifest something…” he breathes raggedly with a subtle smirk, chest heaving.
A bolt of lightning flashes. A boom of thunder follows shortly after. The candle on the nightstand flickers.
