    An early look into Damien and Freelancer's relationship post confession. This is non canon.

    If you let a fire burn too long it becomes unmanageable. Damien knows this. And yet all that goes out the window with Freelancer. Ever since he confessed, they've only stoked his flames more. Not that he's complaining. Maybe there are some benefits to giving into temptation.

     

    They paused in the doorway, looking back over their shoulder as they locked eyes with Damien. A mischievous grin on their face once they realized he was staring.

    “You know…we could save on time and your water bill if we only use the shower once. I already feel so bad being the reason for you running late.” They cooed.

    He rose, walking over to them, his own body seeking theirs once more as he came into their personal space. They held their own, welcoming the intrusion.

    “That's a very fair point. After all, we wouldn't want anything to go to waste, now would we.”

    “Gotham Harbour’s numerous toxins and pollution and whatever else might be in there would not leave a swimmer with just a little bug, especially not when all those chemicals were mixed together. Jason would be lucky if he didn’t start having hallucinations any time soon. Or a fit of giggles. God, he really hoped not.”

    Jason falls into the harbour and gets shot. Dick uses Jason’s dazed state to make up for missed years as a big brother.

    “Jaybird!” Dick yells as soon as he pulls the double doors open, and Jason can see the trail of little ducklings behind him.

    Duke, Steph, Cass, and Tim are in a neat line behind Dick, and they all look miserable. They’re all wearing pajamas, each with their own tissue box. Damian is standing apart from them with his arms crossed, and Alfred The Cat is perched precariously on his shoulder, but the illusion of an upset healthy prepubescent teenager is very obviously ruined by a very red nose, and the pale pallor of his normally deep tan.

    Dick is the only one who doesn’t look miserable, and Jason laments his own health and simultaneously curses Dick’s extremely abysmal culinary abilities and prowess.

    Jason has no words. He wants to step back, away from the sick children. He wants to go back to his germ-free apartment and watch the newest episode of Great British Bake Off with Roy.

    He takes a step back.

    Or, wherein Tim got his spleen taken by Ra's like in canon but little does everyone know that Jason had sold his spleen when he was a kid to try and get Catherine into rehab (and she still died of a drug overdose.)
