Summary
A small strip of private— meaning, unknown to everyone except Alfred— beach on the northern coast of Massachusetts, 42.098XXX, -70.708XXX, July 28th, 1976, approximately 12:30 PM.
“Right,” Alfred says, bitter. “Nation business, such as, fistfighting Ivan so we both forget either one of us could be the one to nuke the planet.” The only sound for a few moments is Alfred’s rattling breathing. His neck is overwarm, sweat caked to the crevices of his skin. Huffing through his nose, he says, “Sorry. I’m just stressed.”
“Clearly, if fucking you didn’t get all these thoughts out of your thick skull.” Lovino agrees.

Summary
"You okay?" You were aiming for casual but it comes out overly so, like you're self-conscious about it. And, a little slurred.
"Fuck off," Shane says.
You nod. Figures. Turning, you start to walk away again when he says, "Sorry."
You stiffen, look at him. He's looking at you now, managed to tear his eyes away from the shelf.
"Sorry," he says again, with such an honesty to it. "Old habits."
Three years since you last spoke, the rumour around town is that Shane's sober now. When it proves to be true, and he wants to be friends, old wounds are reopened and old habits die hard.
