Summary
“Sure, Princess, let’s put the war aside. Who knows? Maybe this will spawn a beautiful friendship. We can hold hands and sing songs around the campfire, talk about our crushes, maybe even use the buddy system––“
Edelgard groaned. “You’re going to make me regret this, aren’t you?”
“Yep,” said Claude gleefully. He stood and wiped the dirt off his pants. He extended a hand toward her. “Where to now, bestie?”
“Never,” Edelgard’s voice was a dangerous monotone, “call me that again.”

Summary
A ghost told Link a story once. In this story, everyone died on a burning field.
There were two survivors –– the lovelorn princess and her battered knight, cursed in cruel mercy to a century in purgatory and a memory so shattered and broken that it was impossible to put the shards back where they fit.
He learned atop the Temple of Time, the dilapidated ruins where his ancestors’ ancestors’ ancestors once stood, that Hyrule had sustained itself on nothing more than stories for ten thousand years. Evil collected underneath the marble floors of Hyrule Castle for centuries. Hyrule had almost unlimited time to find a way to stop it, and yet they waited for two characters out of a fable to save them. Why was anyone surprised when the myth couldn’t sustain itself? Salvation is not the job of two children, regardless of the lofty titles placed over their heads.
But this isn’t a story about a knight. It’s not a story about a princess. This is a story about the aftermath of stories.
This is, ostensibly, a story about a dog.
Link, Zelda, and a never-ending story.

Summary
"It’s a tragedy,” the poet says with a glint in his eye. “So in one hundred years, it’ll age like fine wine into comedy, maybe.”
“That’s not how tragedy works.” Zelda would know, because she is quite well-read on the subject of tragedy. “Stories are only called tragedies when the hero dies. You can’t turn one into a comedy. The hero won’t suddenly come alive after one hundred years dead.”
“Ah, Your Highness,” The poet plucks a string on his harp. She hates the harp. The harp is now her least favorite instrument. “Is that really how it happens?”
“What is your definition, then?”
“Comedy,” he plucks another string, “is tragedy plus time.”In which:
Zelda is stuck between a rock and a calamity, contemplates the nature of tragedy, and learns that even the Goddess cheats at cards. -

“We should have something that’s ours, you know?”
And Catra can’t fight her on that. It’s been years since the war, but old habits die hard, and Adora is still learning how to be selfish. How to just say no when she wants to, sleep when she needs to, let go of her burdens when they weigh her down. She gets better day by day. And if Adora wants to build something of her own from the ground up, so be it. It’s not in her nature to do things the easy way.
Catra laces their fingers together. She kisses the back of Adora’s hand. “I’m in.”

Summary
Her first night on the ship, Adora watches Catra sleep. She charts the gentle tug up and down of her chest, stares at what once was impossible to want, forbidden from her reach.
She sits on the edge of Catra’s cot. Adora reaches out to trace the collar of her uniform, the white stained throughout with specks of blood and dirt. She rakes a gentle hand through Catra’s hair, the cut rough and ragged. She goes to cradle Catra’s face like she had on Horde Prime’s ship, to run a thumb across the sharp line of her jaw—
She stops. Maybe some things are still forbidden.

Summary
She practically bolts out of the door, throwing herself down the hallway after what is but isn’t Adora—it’s not her, the vision doesn’t make any noise as it trails through the corridor, she discovers once she catches up to it. It doesn’t smell like Adora, or even feel like her. There’s something artificially stiff about her.
But still, Catra puts a hand on its shoulder. Her hand meets static.
Adora disappears.

Summary
Catra wants her, more than anything. She wants nothing more than to love and be loved by Adora, wants nothing more than to bottle up the warmth that blossoms inside her when Adora looks at her like this and tuck it away somewhere safe and hidden, to keep it with her always.
She loves her. She wishes she knew how to say it. Wishes she knew how to keep her here forever.

Adora leans her head against Catra’s, her cheek just hitting her scalp.

Summary
Catra doesn’t need home—she’s never had one to begin with. She has a sharp mind, weapons born into her fingers and toes that can slice through flesh or metal or rock, and she has air filling her lungs. She is enough on her own.
It feels good—no, great—to tear the Force Captain badge off of her chest and throw it as far as she can into the sand beneath her, then drive away and watch it become an indiscriminate piece of gravel.
And just like that, her last tie to the Horde is severed.

Summary
Catra is there when the new She-Ra is annointed, when she hears that battle cry again, when the stranger in front of her turns into the ghost of a memory.
The new She-Ra doesn’t look like Adora, and maybe that’s disappointing, but maybe it’s easier. When she turns, she is taller, mightier—but an imitation of someone Catra knew, loved, lost all the same. Gold traded for silver hair that glistens like opal against the light of the Sword of Protection’s runestone.
She-Ra eyes Catra, blue and just as bright as she remembers, as if she’s sought her out amongst the crowd of strangers.
As much as she wants to, Catra cannot look away.
