Summary
The man cocooning himself around Ivan suddenly stiffened, his grip loosening as his arms slackened. Panic flickered through Ivan immediately. Of course. Hamsters didn’t speak. The magic turning an ugly rat into Cinderella’s coachman was always meant to break eventually. Ivan started to pull his hand away, but the man caught it first, pressing Ivan’s hand firmly back against his head and guiding it in a silent request to continue.
Wasn’t it twelve o’clock yet?
( Or; Till DIY-ed a piñata to celebrate, took some liberties in his creation, and of course things went as well as anyone would expect. )

Summary
Ivan does not hesitate. Hesitation would be noticed. It would be recorded, remembered, held. Instead, he swallows without chewing. Whatever is biting into his stomach twists there, forcing it into a knotty mess, pushing the swallowed pieces back up his throat. He quashes it anyway, pressing everything down, tamps the reaction flat, and keeps still until the watching eye finds nothing to seize.
( Or, time lingers only in the living: one, once younger, now alone in its quiet passage, while the other rests frozen, unchanging. The insects are absent, and yet the silence speaks. Death itself becomes a record. )

« He jerks him off his shoulder only to stare in horror when Ivan simply falls onto the ground in a flurry of red flowers without so much as a twitch. », aaaah so good ᜊ꒦ິ^꒦ິᜊ

Summary
"It's not that the whale didn't want to sing in the same key as the other whales. It could only sing in that key that no other whale could hear."
"Then the other whales," the word was still foreign on Till's tongue, the pronunciation rolling out all awkward. "should've just tried listening to it harder! I listen to you closely even if you sing off-key! It's not that hard!"
Ivan looks at him like he was stupid. "You really are a blockhead," he repeats, dodging the smack Till had been aiming at his face with practiced ease.
There was a scared dog. There was a lonely whale. There was an Ivan, who was Till's.

genuinely an absolutely wonderful read, one of my favorites! the way the author uses all these imageries skillfully, portraying till and ivan vividly is just peak, chef-kiss truly.
« Even if Ivan claims to feel closer in relation to a wegyein than the other humans in the rebellion, Till would simply let him chew on his bones. »

Summary
The people here weren't like the humans he knew of. They looked like them, acted like them— but they lived among fairies and witches, shadow people crawled in their sewers, and the seasons changed far too quickly.
They were so far behind on technology, they barely even knew about other planets.
(They didn’t know about Alien Stage.)
aka. Till didn't envision ending up as a farmer in Stardew Valley. But he was here, he was still far from alright, and he had to live with the fact that he was here now whether he liked it or not.

a refreshing, lovely, and bittersweet read, « It was an odd feeling, being responsible for lives. As the farm started coming into shape, he nailed down fences and pathways— and at some point, he started raising animals. »

Summary
Anakt’s 50th class have a field trip to the beach.
“The sky opening up,” Ivan said, “could explain the state after a heavy rainpour, the beginning rays of the sun shining through after an insistent darkness.” Thoughtfully, his eyes had glanced in Till’s direction before turning back to the ceiling above them, where a pixel in the middle of a static cloud flickered. “It was also, some believed, a description of an event that happened during the end of everything. A remaking of sorts. A splitting of the world. Fascinating, no?”
One of Till’s hands had cupped itself over the other, rubbing at each of his knuckles in turn. They’re not too different, he thought. An ending to all of this would be a kind of clearing too.
