Summary
Every June, Nicholas's family returned to the same quiet lakeside town. Every June, he found the same dock, the same pine trees, the same familiar sunsets.
The only thing that ever changed was Byun Euijoo.
What begins as one chance meeting between two eight-year-old boys turns into years of scraped knees, friendship bracelets, midnight swims, inside jokes, and promises that next summer will come faster. Alongside friends that may as well be family, they spend every summer believing nothing could ever pull them apart.
Then one summer ends, and Euijoo never comes back.
Eight years later, Nicholas is still the boy who returns to the lake every June, even if he's no longer the quiet child he used to be. When Euijoo unexpectedly returns, he's changed, too. The loud, fearless boy Nicholas remembers has been replaced by someone quieter, more guarded, and carrying years of things left unsaid.
Some promises survive time.
Some summers never really end.
Or: Two boys spend every summer growing up together, lose each other before they ever get the chance to say what they mean, and discover that sometimes the longest way home is through the people you've never stopped loving.

Summary
Nicholas thinks it's fate.
Euijoo thinks fate sounds suspiciously like a recommendation and he has never been good at taking those. Not from his friends, not from strangers, and certainly not from the universe. If he falls in love, it will be his own decision.
Unfortunately for Euijoo, Nicholas is just as stubborn as he is.
Or: a record store, a viral kiss, terrible timing, and two idiots who keep choosing each other anyway.
