Summary
After the Battle of Manhattan, soulmate bonds appear in the form of telepathic connections between two people. All the Avengers seem to be connected to someone - except Steve. He kind of resigns himself to a lonely life without sharing his thoughts and mind with anyone. Then the voice in his head appears.
And that's just the beginning of the complications.
His soulmate, a soldier, is dismissive, distrustful, and awfully familiar in a strange way. He also sounds tortured and is often in pain.
Steve would want to help anyone, but his soulmate? He's ready to rip the world apart to find him.

Summary
Bucky Barnes, a methods engineer at Stark Industries, is tasked with bringing their new computing machines to the Federal Broadcasting Company. While he studies the inner workings of the TV network’s bustling reference department, Bucky finds himself increasingly attracted to intelligent, handsome, and charming department leader Steve Rogers, who’s suspicious of Bucky’s explorations and questions. Steve is also a little annoyed to realize he’s attracted to Bucky. The two men do have a lot in common: they’re both traumatized World War II veterans, whip-smart, interested in all the same things, and keeping mysterious secrets. There are just a few problems: Steve appears to be in love with a rising executive named Sharon, and Bucky feels certain he’s met Steve before—and he just might uncover what Steve’s been hiding from the world.

Summary
In the dark of the night Bucky longs for closeness and a hand to hold in his own, someone to touch him gently or even to hit him, playfully, in that rough and caring way that belonged just to the two of them. Silent tears soak into the fabric of his cot. It’s something he has learned to do here, something he didn’t know could be done: crying, without movement or sound, without a change in breathing. He can’t even say that he is sad.
Because he certainly doesn’t wish for Steve to be here. God—when he thinks of it, in the moments when he can think, Bucky shudders with horror at the thought. Steve, in a place like this. No matter what the scientists told him, no matter how much of a hero Steve thinks he is, Bucky doesn’t want him here. Doesn’t want him to know this.
But when he feels the empty space beside him, inside him, he’ll be damned if there’s anything he wouldn’t give for just a heartbeat’s warmth.
