Petey goes to visit his father in Cat Jail, and realizes that he's not as over his leaving as he thought. He seeks comfort in his family. Maybe he does deserve love.
Excerpt:
Petey felt like he’d just been punched in the gut. “What?” he choked out.“You finally understand there was no super special moment. That there was no “The World's Most Evilest Cat.” That there was only you. Only Petey the Cat. That it was all you. Is you. Only you. You did it. You killed her. Your bullshit. She died to get away from you. You killed her because you didn’t understand. You’re so needy. You take and take and take. Everyone hates you. Some people are just better at pretending than others.”
Petey gasped. He stood up. He needed to go. His dad was just being cruel. He was just trying to get Petey to leave.“You were evil from the moment I first held you. You make everyone around you miserable. You’re a miserable cat. You are the biggest mistake I’ve ever made,” He spat. He turned his head to the guard, “Hey! I’m ready to go back to my cell. Even solitary is better than spending another second with this waste of space.”

She didn’t choose to get born. She didn;t choose to get chosen. And she didn’t choose to fight. She just does. Or she dies. And either way, life goes on.Buffy huffed into her pillow. Her eyes caught back on what got her into this train of thought. Mr. Pointy. Kenda’s lucky stake. After using it- too little too late- Buffy had stashed it under her bed. She couldn’t bear to get rid of it, but she also couldn’t bear to get rid of it. She had just… kept it. She knew that Kendra would think that’s childish. That meant Buffy wasn’t ready to be a slayer, to fixed on her emotional attachments. To other people. But Kendra was a also a kid. A kid who had a favorite stake and gave it a name and believed it was lucky against all odds in the universe.
But here that stake was, a year later, collecting dust. Just a pointy lump of wood. Under Buffy’s bed with some other slayer junk, a few socks, and a book.

Cas is mostly here for moral support and to make sure Dean doesn’t crawl out of his skin from sheer stress, but he certainly wouldn’t mind making a favorable first impression on one of the most influential women of his best friend’s life. He just hadn’t expected her to be so incisively observant, though he really, probably should have.
