Pax always walks the high road. A bard above reproach, if you ask most any who know them. A ray-of-sunshine, they’ve been told, and proud of it.
But they’re also a performer.
Astarion is a performer, too. At least, insomuch as lying is performance, anyway. And he’s seen too much darkness to readily place his trust in the light, anymore, it seems. Especially if that light happens to be a particularly obnoxious spotlight.
In addition to being utterly ridiculous and so very “good” (and dashing! mustn’t forget dashing), however, Pax is surprisingly strong, insightful, and understanding, as well.
Unexpectedly, the perfect recipe to be Astarion’s undoing—or, just maybe, his salvation.

“We’ll figure something out.” Pax says, with certainty.
Astarion looks at them strangely.
“You really believe that, don’t you?”
“Well, it wouldn’t make a very compelling story if we all became singleminded brain-eating squid-faces without finding out anything at all about what’s going on. And hope or no hope, I am a believer in a good story—even if I have to make it good myself.”

Summary

my heart fell out my ass like at least 5 times reading this and yet I also found myself laughing a fair bit too, which is just what I like about the tone of the actual game—the ability to go from laughing one minute to crying the next. Truly delightful

It wasn't a question, but Henry received no reply. He was in no rush, though, and a leisurely man often had at least a facsimile of leverage.
Ducking under some foliage, Hans lied, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"You're an awful liar, sir."
"As if you're any better yourself."
"I am a better liar."
...
After the events of Suchdol, Henry and Hans find themselves at an impasse, neither willing to start the conversation pertaining to the newest aspect of their relationship.
