Remus cupped Sirius’ cheek, making him look up. His heart kept doing cartwheels inside his chest; Sirius had purple eyebags, looking impossibly exhausted and drained.
“I’m fine.” Sirius blinked slowly and swallowed with effort.
Or, after the break Sirius returns to Hogwarts badly injured. Remus and James take care of him.

“Let me do everything.” Shane slowly helped Ilya out of his clothes.
Shane kneeled beside the tub, grabbed a wet cloth, and carefully washed Ilya’s arms. There was no rush; only the soft sound of the water surrounded them.
“Shane.” Ilya pulled away slightly. “You shouldn’t be doing this.”
“I want to.” Shane desperately wanted to make Ilya feel better. He wanted to erase the shame he knew Ilya felt for needing help. To show him that it was okay not to be okay. That he was still deserving of love no matter what.
Or, Shane is there for Ilya during a depressive episode

His doorbell rang.
Shane flinched slightly, not expecting the sound. He frowned, glancing towards the door. He wasn't expecting anyone. He considered ignoring it, but something pushed him towards the camera screen showing the front door.
When his eyes landed on the video feed, everything in him dropped.
(Or, Ilya ends up on Shane's doorstep, bleeding.)

Summary
Ilya then looked down, watching Shane set down the familiar pack of cigarettes and a blue lighter that was now loose from it onto Ilya’s lap.
Ilya frowned again and picked them both up in one hand and transferred them over to his opposite. “What are you doing?”
His voice was absent of any judgement or anger.
“I dunno.” Shane shrugged as he threw Ilya’s sweatshirt over his head and pulled it over his shoulders. “I wanted to know what it felt like.”
“What? To smoke a cigarette?” Ilya sat up a little, unaffected by Shane’s hand bumping into his shoulder as the brunette pulled the sleeves on.
“Yea.” Shane settled back against the couch and glanced over at Ilya before looking back ahead of them both. “I guess I wanted to know why it helps you.”
Or
Shane and Ilya have a much needed conversation and reach a depth neither of them were expecting.
