“Ah, but the second step could have easily been completed without Weasley’s poor attempt at gathering potions ingredients,” Snape said with a raised eyebrow, “though I suppose our precious golden boy can’t pay attention to such feeble things as instructions.”
The irritation simmering in Harry flared up. “Apologies, sir,” Harry shot back, voice dripping with disdain, “For having glasses that aren’t the prescription.”
Snape towered over him. “Do not take that tone with me boy.” He growled. It might have been Harry’s reminiscing of the verbal attack Uncle Vernon had given nine year old Harry for his bad eyesight, or just Snape’s general disposition, but Harry flinched at the term of address.
Hard.
Noticeably.

Summary
On the first day of summer after 5th year, Harry is sure that he will have the longest, worst summer of his life. Still grieving Sirius and with thoughts of the prophecy, his only thought is to make it to Hogwarts in the fall.
His plans are ruined when a Death Eater attack leaves the Dursleys dead, the blood wards destroyed, and Severus Snape's cover as spy blown. Now, both are wanted by the Dark Lord and in danger. For their own safety, Dumbledore sends the two to a safe house, far to the north -- a cottage by the sea. There, Harry and Severus learn far more about each other than they ever dreamed.
(Post OoTP, but alternate HBP. Pure Severitus angst. No Snarry romance, but maybe a little Hinny. Not beta read or Britt picked.)

Summary
Severus is still choking on the air being repelled from his lungs when the first attempt slams against his skull. This attempt isn't like theirs. It isn't the stinging, burrowing, bamboo-shoots-under-the-nail like crawling of his Lord's magic. Not Voldemort's slow and torturous magic, polluting his mind with burning pains as he digs deeper inside, unrelenting. Nor is it the powerful, crushing, passionate rush of Dumbledore flooding him. His mentor and warden's grand magic, trying to shatter his shields until they were impenetrable. No, this attempt comes at him like a dart throw. It sails at him like a whisp through the air, hitting his shields with the force of a feathered pin-point. Leaving only a small hole in the surface of his mental fortitude. The magic is insistent, but all too gentle compared to what he's known.
(Severus Snape whump at the ministry. Written because I was always confused why the Order didn't jump Snape sooner. Please excuse my use of Magical Macguffins :/ )
