Summary
Stepping back, Fingon raises a brow, and there, now, is the blaze of him—chin tilted proud, and a storm in his eyes. “This is unbecoming, Russandol. Own what you did; fight me like you mean it.”
This is not what I have come for, he ought to say. He ought to lower his weapon, surrender, apologise. His jaw hurts with the force of his restraint, and across from him, Fingon grins—a jagged thing, beautifully awful, and as ever, still, too convinced of his own sanctity.
Maedhros returns. He and Fingon handle it the way they do most things.

Summary
Erling's palms itched the whole match, it felt like. Hard not to when his body remembers what it meant when Jude used to score for Dortmund, every silly bet they'd made over stat lines. Aside from that, the only things that penetrated the oppressive humidity of July in Miami were the spikes of adrenaline as the tides of the match shifted and the sickening wrongness when Erling pulled something ten minutes into the second half.

Summary
Erling lowers himself to the ground next to Jude, long legs stretching out in front of him, skin nearly brushing against Jude’s with the proximity. He’s back in his regular clothes, now, long hair washed and loose around his shoulders.
Jude sighs. Lets his head rest back against the wall. Erling always looks so normal, after matches. So human. Jude’s always been jealous of that. It takes hours for the tremor in his own shoulders to fade away.
(It was never like that before. Football never used to hurt. Never used to scare him. Never used to sound like a hundred thousand voices in his head. Back then, it just was.)

Summary
“You’ve seen them, though?” Erling asks, too curious to be truly causal. It’s like he’s actually asking— though why, Jude has no real idea. “The memes?”
“Yeah I’ve seen them,” Jude tuts. “Fucking Grealish forwards every one he gets his hands on.”
“Same for me,” Erling says, and he looks thoughtful a moment, a sort of fleeting thing Jude can’t really read. “It’s interesting.”

Jude is minding his own business and honestly doing just fine when the notification pops up on his phone, mid-tournament.
