Her mouth, tongue, teeth, and lungs moved on their own. The noise they made working all together was: “Yes. Hylian. Man. Wait…no.” That wasn't right. He...had a sword on his back. She shook her head, until another word dislodged from the silt of her brain, and floated up, shining. Relieved, she said: “Knight.”
Post-TOTK fic in which Link finds Zelda, but neither are healed completely.

“What’s there to think?” she said finally. “He’s perfect.”

Around Gojo Satoru, someone can’t help but feel the weight of their own flesh around them, all inkspill hair and flaking wrinkled skin clumped around ungainly bone. Everyone around him is bruise and scrape and open wound. One of the first times Satoru talks to him, it’s with his glassy eyes transfixed on Suguru’s ear.
“Suguruuuu,” Satoru sings. “Why do you do that?”

He was eating curses. One, after another, after another, after another, after another, like there was no end to them, like this was some kind of nightmarish buffet with no cost, no limit, his hands fumbled messily and he felt his palm mash against his teeth, sometimes a spare dripping or tendril would lash acidly against his cheek or burn a line down his chin, and still he kept eating and eating and eating, nauseous with the grease of swallowed blood, and it took him a long time, too long, to realize this was not some terrible dream, or an exaggerated memory, or even hell. He was simply still alive.

But this year felt...different. Too many missions, not enough time to actually show his face consistently around some promising strangers. He really only ever spent time with Suguru nowadays and recently Suguru seemed kind of absent; the most cutting comment Satoru could think of was usually met with a light, shallow laugh, rather than the exciting yells and brawls of old.
A sort of feverish suspicion was starting to gnaw away at him. Like...was he going to get anything?
