The moral of the story was this: If you’re sure you don’t want to get back with someone, then delete their number and block them. Or maybe the lesson was, if you’re still obviously missing someone, don’t get drunk and then text them. Or worse, send them nudes.
Or maybe the lesson was, no matter what you do, don’t let your technologically impaired father borrow your phone when he inevitably broke his.
(But really, aren't you glad all of these things happened in the end?)

Summary
Ace had never wanted to be a marine. He thought they were boring and corrupt and way too uptight. They valued order and submission over freedom and were relentless in their attempts at cleansing those they deemed 'undesirable' from the world. And since Ace was one of those they considered as such, he hated them even more.
And then life somehow got worse and he was told—with no chance to protest—that he was going to join the Marines once he came of age and he would spend his life there. No amount of protesting or arguing could sway his grandfather and while Ace could have probably just told him to go to hell and done what he wanted anyway, he couldn't because the man at the head of it all knew all about Ace's inherited crimes and had told them that should Ace refuse, he would tell the entire world who Ace was and exactly where they could find him.
Or, Ace is a marine and he hates it but he doesn't have a choice. Or does he?

“This is the last time, Marco. I mean it.”
A single one of Marco's brows rose, an almost taunting look on his face. “Is that so.”
“Yes. For real this time.” Ace refused to acknowledge how many other times he had said similar things, each one turning into a lie as he accepted Marco again and again. But this time he was serious- he was still ignoring the fact that he'd thought this before. This was the last time.
