Summary
Clark tried desperately to hold on to the voices and faces of the people who had loved him: his Moms, his Dads, his friends, Lana, until the energy beam that had been suspending him in the air slowly lowered him down to his knees on the cold ice floor. The last remnants of Clark Kent, his deepest, most humanistic desires whispered in his mind. Maybe this was the best for the world. This way, nothing would ever be his fault anymore, he would never have to feel the guilt of losing...
Losing? Losing what? What had he lost? What was he losing?
He was a slate wiped clean. He had no name; he had no destiny; he had no other reason to feel. There was only one face left in his mind: Lex Luthor. A simple command remained: "Obey"
Clark Kent, Kal-El, was no more.

TLDR: I took a gander at rewriting the ending of Smallville season 7 episode 20, Arctic as I was disappointed at the ending. What if the orb truly did what Veritas and Lex thought it would: take control of the Traveler?
