Summary
Dean can do this. He can. He can raise Jack Kline, Lucifer’s baby. No, not Lucifer’s… Cas’ kid. Their kid.
With his mother gone, and Castiel dead, Dean finds himself hanging on by a thread. Castiel has died so many times on him, Dean is half-convinced himself that Cas will return to him. Dean evades the pain of the truth, carrying on in false hope until his soul renders into a million pieces. He learns quickly that taking care of a newborn is not for the faint of heart, sleep-deprivation, grief, and feedings rule most of the early days. During this time, Dean is forced to build a new life for himself. With a new name and identity change, Dean becomes a Dad. Something Castiel would be proud of. Dean cooks, he cleans, he reads, he sings his ABCs and 123s, and ultimately Dean does his best for Jack. It’s not until Jack grows into a small child that Dean feels like he can breathe again. The grief no longer suffocates him. His new life has meaning. He sees family and he allows himself to miss Castiel. To mourn him, to love him in death. And when Jack goes to school, Dean is once again reunited with friends and enemies from his past.

“It’ll all take some getting used to, probably, I think,” Colt comments, glancing towards Rocky. He can tell by the way he tilts that Rocky’s looking back at him. This is actually getting normal, God help him. “We can practice more at home.”
“Home,” Ryland echoes, taking his hand off the chair’s controls. “Geez. Home has— You know, home’s been Rocky and the Hail Mary for years now. It’s weird to be on— you know. Dry land.”
“The lonely sailor, lost at sea,” Colt sighs with a slight smile, teasingly dramatic.
“Grace not lonely, Grace not lost!” Rocky protests. “Grace have Rocky, statement! Rocky watch Grace sleep, protect Grace, bring Grace home to Earth.”
“You sure did, buddy, and I can’t thank you enough for it,” Colt replies.
or: Ryland is finally well enough to leave the facility and go home— or, for now, to move himself and Rocky into Colt's home.

“Will you tell me what happened?” Colt asks quietly, studying Ryland’s sleeping face. He wishes he would wake up and just look at him, but— but, until then, he’ll settle for talking to his— to Rocky.
“Grace come back for Rocky after return plan for Earth,” Rocky says. His translated voice feels like it’s coming from right beside him. “Grace not let Rocky die. Grace give life for Rocky life. Grace…” He makes a soft, sad chime of a sound. “Grace save Rocky. Grace save Erid, Grace brave, brave, brave, statement. Rocky love Grace. Rocky save Grace.”
“You did that?” Colt asks him, glancing sideways at Rocky. “You gave up everything, you— you gave up going home just to bring him back here?”
“Grace do same for Rocky.”
or: Colt's twin brother was taken from him and shot off into space without a chance to say goodbye. Over the years, piece by piece, he gets Ryland back.

“You’re doing a terrible job of buttering that bread,” Tim critiques, wiping the corner of his eyes.
