    The drive back to LA is far from quiet. Buck has a nightmare, and Eddie can’t stop thinking.

    He tries to swallow on instinct, but it doesn’t go down. It shifts just enough to wedge harder, suddenly blocking off his breath. He inhales and gets nothing. No air. Just pain and pressure, panic spiking hot and immediate in his chest.

    The spoon clatters from Eddie’s hand.
