“Please just give me something. Anything.” Victor silently pleaded as he tried to listen for the faintest heartbeat below the sound of the pouring rain
No sound would come however. Nothing, just the sound of thunder and rain. Victor suddenly felt anger surged through him, his nerves set ablaze and his muscles struck taught. All his work, all of the time spent leading to this exact moment, the promise made to him by the dark angel, it was all for nothing
With an angry shout, Victor suddenly began to pound on his creation’s chest with his fist, as if to try and will it to life through sheer force alone. After a few more slams of his fist, Victor felt his energy leave him as he slumped against the table. Failure, truly and utterly failure
Victor didn’t care that he was soaked to the bone and freezing, he didn’t care that his bones ached from hours upon hours of work. He simply did not care about anything at all at that moment
TLDR:What if Victor didn’t go to bed after his project “failed”? What if he stayed by his side the whole night long?

Summary
Months have passed since Victor had to refuse Henrich Harlander's wish to live on through his creation.
Unlike in the movie, Henrich handles the situation with a surprising amount of propriety and even invites both Victor and Adam over for a dinner party, together with his niece Elizabeth and her fiancé William.
He must have been in a forgiving mood, or perhaps it was merely to show Victor the new apparatus he had acquired for his collection of oddities.
Purely from a place of scientific curiosity, naturally...
