All Goro can do is let out a humorless, disbelieving laugh. “Alright, very funny,” he says, though none of the thieves break character. None of them start pointing and laughing about how gullible Goro is — how they were able to fool the esteemed detective. They all just keep staring.
“You can give it up now!” Goro insists rather frantically. “This whole amnesia thing was your way of pranking me! But I figured it out, so you can drop it before we waste any more of the doctor’s time.”
“We’re just as confused as you are,” Niijima mutters, much less extravagant than Kitagawa declaring;
“How dare you accuse us of a prank so ill-conceived!”
Or the fic where Joker gets amnesia. Which makes him think he's dating Goro for some unfathomable reason.
