“Is he sick? Is it some sort of—” Kaelix frowns, unsure how to even put it. All he can do is make a large, all-encompassing sort of gesture to convey the kind of vibe he’s thinking about. Some kind of stress-fuelled spinout? A bad reaction to the cold?
“Not exactly, but I think we should trade rooms.” Seible smiles for a beat, but it's gone just as fast. He’s pretty sure he can make out the sound of light footsteps behind the door if he really strains himself. “Freo wanted some space. He’s, uh… he’s nesting in there.”
Oh. Kaelix waits for him to point and laugh and say it was all just a prank that he totally fell for, but that doesn't happen. If anything, Seible just gets more and more serious as they keep standing here.
“Sure,” he eventually says, not really thinking. “If that's what he needs.”

Or: Kaelix is only a lowly palace guard, and Freodore is the beautiful royal designer and master of the wardrobe with whom Kaelix is enamored, and who just might think fondly of Kaelix, too.

Summary
Nothing about Kaelix quite fits all the layers hidden beneath this wedding. The simplicity of his answers in contrast to the unspoken politics and the quiet pressure of legacy wrapped all in silk and tradition. Either he doesn't understand what he's just gotten himself into, or he's hiding that he does far too well.
Not that it's any of Freodore's business. His job is just to make the wedding happen without any major hiccups, not speculate on the emotional subtext of a spring engagement between social classes.
"Well," Freodore says, tapping his pen to the page, trying to turn his mindset in another direction, "shall we build your dream wedding?"
Kaelix grins. "Let's do it."

Freya crosses her arms, mutters, “Feels like my chest doesn’t even fit in this thing properly.”
Reimu scoffs. “Nooo, what the hell, Freya? They’re perfect. Kaelix, tell her her tits are perfect.”
Kaelix, standing nearby, helping everyone else pack up, had stopped only for a drink of water that’s already half-raised to his mouth. He chokes on it, sputters. “I—uh. Yeah. They’re. Yeah, they’re perfect.”
Reimu flashes a smug grin. “See?”
