    Stupidly, at the time, you pleaded for them to spare you. You begged the lanky one, told him that you'd do anything if he please just let you go before his brother sawed you open. In hindsight, you should've let them.

    Because he’d listened. He snuck you out of the house and hid you in the barn. Whatever bullshit excuse he made up had worked, because his brothers were none the wiser. You hadn’t seen either of them since.
