Summary
Inspired by the musical The Last 5 Years, in which we see a couple’s life through their eyes but along opposite timelines.
This story follows Carla and Lisa through the 15 years of their relationship. Chapters from Carla’s perspective are told in chronological order whilst Lisa’s are in reverse and begin at the end, so to speak. They’ll meet in the middle and cross over as the story continues.
Some aspects are canon (as many as possible!) and others I’ve taken off in different directions because who knows what’ll happen in the future on the show?! (It’s worth saying that I’ve also taken out canon things that I wish hadn’t happened, for example, Becky being back from the dead. You’re welcome!)

Summary
I saw a tweet about how a Baby Barlow mention wouldn't have gone amiss after Carla admitting to Lisa that Betsy’s starting to feel like her own kid on Monday.
Although I'm in camp 'Lisa already knows', I couldn't leave it alone.

Summary
This girl had been hanging on her every word for the past few hours, showering her with compliments, laughing at just about everything she said and even dragging her out for a dance. Carla would be lying if she told herself she hadn’t enjoyed the attention. And — be it because she apparently had a thing for blonde women or simply because this particular one was gorgeous — there was no denying that Carla was attracted to her. But something about that made her uneasy, even with all the alcohol in her system, even though she had no real reason to feel guilty.
Or;
Having moved back into No. 6 after "ending" things with her still-legally-married-to-a-resurrected-woman fiancée, a contract renewal meeting brings about the return of two people Carla hasn't seen in a while: Posh Gareth and Jealous Lisa.

Summary
A continuation of scenes set in the week of May 4th.
—
She feels a palm smooth back over the crown of her head, and lips— cool compared to her shower-reddened scalp— press a kiss to the part in her hair. Her insides ripple with pleasure. She wants this— more of this, all of this, any version of this she can get— to fill her veins and bliss her out until she’s lost consciousness. Something to empty her head before a single thought of work or Todd or Theo has had a chance to steal her peace.

Summary
When finally they’re alone, it’s surprising how normal everything feels. It’s just them, after all. They’ve done the ritual and danced the dance and made themselves wives, but still, they’re just them. The door clicks shut behind them, and in the quiet of their hotel room— the first of its kind all day— Carla takes her in.

Summary
Carla’s still not looking at her, is snatching up her coat and stalking toward the door, and Lisa wants to scream, wants to say— look at me! you’re the only one who can see me! please!— and knows that if Carla will not look at her now, no one ever will.
