Summary
At risk of being failed by his least favourite professor, Regulus Black has exactly forty-eight hours to design a psychological field study from scratch. He comes up with a hypothesis. To prove emotional detachment is the ultimate key to a successful relationship. To test it, all he needs is a guinea pig who’s the complete opposite of detached.
In comes the loud, hopelessly attentive, and annoyingly charming star of Myrddin U's rugby team, James Potter.
For a month, Regulus observes and logs the data as James goes on a set of dates with two different people.
What Regulus doesn’t expect is to develop feelings for the main subject himself.

Summary
“Go on then, let's hear the great James Potter speak French.” Regulus reasons there were really only two ways this could go; scenario one: James can actually speak French and Regulus gets the gift of hearing it, or scenario two: he doesn’t know shit and Regulus can make fun of him for it. Win win.
As always though, James manages to surprise.
“Um, voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?”
Regulus blinks twice, short circuiting. Thoughts flash through his head. Did that just come out of James Potter’s mouth? Directed at ME? What the fuck? Am I dead? Did I die?

2. Regulus’s chat is obsessed with him.
3. He understands them immediately.If he was insecure about using a webcam before, James doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to do it now.
He shouldn’t even attempt it, honestly, because there is absolutely no universe wherein he uses his camera and looks half as devastatingly beautiful as afterhrs on Twitch.

Sirius runs away after his 5th year. He goes to the Potters. Before, James and him start their 6th year. Sirius asks James to do something for him. He asks James to take care of Regulus. James obviously accepts because Sirius is his best friend.
James starts getting closer and closer to Regulus. One night he realized he likes Regulus.
What does James do? He kisses Regulus two nights later. The next night he throws a party to forget about Regulus. Did it work? Of course not because Regulus went to the party.
They kiss again, and that leads to... you know.
The day after the party, Regulus and James continue to talk and kiss. They go to Astronomy Tower as usual. They never talked about what they were.
A few weeks later--almost a month-- Sirius finds out. Someone saw James and Regulus kissing at the party. What does Sirius do? He forces James to stop seeing him and start dating Lily. James wasn't even allowed to tell or properly break up with Regulus.
