Summary
"My Dearest Meredith,
In another lifetime you'd have heard it from me years ago. You would know it was true with every beat of your heart. Every inch of your skin would know it. I’d have given you everything. In another lifetime repression and cowardice wouldn’t have run in my blood, and I’d have told the world from the beginning. About who I am, the way I love. About the way you made me feel. In another lifetime maybe, just maybe, it could have been us.
But there isn't another lifetime. There is only this one.
And every day I feel more and more that it was wasted on me."An unsent letter discovered after a suicide attempt reveals more than its writer was ever willing to admit out loud. The darkest moments of Addison Montgomery’s life become transformational, and the pain that once felt impossible to live with drives her home to herself, and to a love that lay dormant for years. Told through a collection of flashbacks that lead us towards an alternative to season four of private practice, I need her like water explores compulsive heterosexuality, grief, learning to love out loud, and the challenging parental relationships that can lead to a loss of identity.

Summary
"The second time you run to a new city, you hit a wall. More specifically, your back hits the wall of a seemingly haunted elevator.
The sun that very morning had felt like promise, the wind in your hair a breath of freedom. A reminder that when you let go of the rigidity that held you both in one piece and also captive, you are allowed to go after what you want. And the men who you had hoped would beg you to stay? You don't need them. Because here in this sunshine land there's a woman who loved you once, who you’re hoping still does. And she performs miracles. She creates life, hope for the hopeless.
But not for you."
A somewhat canon adjacent exploration of Addison’s desire for motherhood throughout various stages of her life and within different relationships, told in a poetic sort of second person point of view.

Summary
Addison Montgomery has everything on paper. A prestigious career. A respected husband. A picture-perfect life. But behind closed doors, she's drowning in silence. Controlled, dismissed, and trapped in a marriage that feels more like a life sentence than a partnership, Addison is slowly unravelling under the weight of emotional abuse and societal expectations.
No one asks if she’s happy. Not her husband, who touches her only to assert control. Not her in-laws, who view her as an accessory to Derek’s image. Not even her parents, who remind her that divorce is a disgrace. But when a quiet, perceptive surgeon named Meredith Grey starts to really see her, Addison begins to question everything she was taught to endure.
P.S. In this AU, Meredith Grey and her peers, Callie, Alex, and others, are already attending surgeons.

But then she does something about it.
