He’s so happy, that a little voice that still lives in his past can only ever say that it’s wrong.
“Shima-kun.”
She squeezes his hand, and draws his attention down, out of the storming clouds blowing into his head. There’s nothing for her to say, only to look at him with a gentle smile. She must have noticed, she’s gotten better at doing so, the way he so easily gets lost in his own thoughts, both good and bad.
He squeezes back and answers.
“Mitsumi-chan.”

Summary
It’s a clear dismissal. The air between them is brittle with a soft tension—not at all hostile, but not comfortable. Mitsumi’s shoulders are hiked to her ears, her gaze restless. She looks like the loneliest person in the world.
Sousuke opens his mouth, then closes it. What can he really say to that?
“Sorry to bother you,” he mumbles, getting to his feet. “I just thought that…if there was something you wanted to talk about, I could—never mind. Get some rest soon, Mitsumi-chan.”
Stupid, he chides himself mentally, reaching for the door. You just made things worse.
“Wait.”
In which Shima and Mitsumi have a talk about Mitsumi's family after the events of chapter 51.

Summary
Zanka had always had a particularly sensitive sense of smell, even as a child. It was something he was forced to hide as a Nijiku son, as this sensitivity didn't always work in his favour. Strong, heavy smells would linger in his head, making him dizzy and nauseous, until all he could think of was getting away from them, overstimulated and shaking. His family had seen it as a point of weakness, though it often felt to him that every part of himself was a potential weakness growing up.
