Chris looked from his dad’s intense, dark eyes to his teacher's blushing face. They were looking at each other in that funny way grown-ups do, completely forgetting that Christopher was even there. It made Chris feel happy, seeing his two favourite people looking at each other like they’d just discovered a new planet.
He wanted this exact moment to last forever and ever.

Christopher looked from his dad’s broad shoulders to Buck’s kind, blue eyes. Suddenly, he had a really, really great idea.
Since the grown-ups are clearly incapable of figuring it out themselves, Christopher takes matters into his own hands―by courting Buck for his dad.

"Are you asking me if I know a 190 lbs firefighter weighs more than my nine-year-old son?" Eddie asks, one eyebrow raised.
Eddie lowers his arms.
"Buck, I know how much you weigh and I know I am able to catch you. I deadlift your weight, you've seen me work out."
There is a weird sound coming from above. "Yeah, I remember."
"You're not even that far up. You can just slide down. So don't be scared to -"
"I'm not scared," Buck interrupts. "Chris, tell your dad I'm not scared."
"I don't know Buck," Chris contemplates, his face serious. "You kinda look scared."
"I - I'm not!" Buck splutters. "Eddie, tell him!"
Eddie sighs deeply.
Or: Buck never learnt how to ask for help. Luckily, the Diazes are there to show him how it's done.

Eddie’s vision goes a little black at the edges, and his hearing dissolves into a shrill ringing.
Buck’s voice cuts through the noise. “Eddie?” he asks. “I- what- He wouldn’t-”
“He would,” Eddie says without thinking.
That pit in his stomach feels like it’s grown into a watermelon. They’re all going to think that he only wants to spend a heat with Buck because he’s an omega. Buck’s going to think it—he’s going to look at Eddie, and soon he’s going to be able to scent him, and there won’t be any hiding it. Eddie’s going to ruin everything.

Summary
Buck is back to work after the lawsuit but he is the man behind and totally ostracized by the family he had so desperately fought to return to. Alone and miserable, the fact that other firefighters at the station decide that they can have free range on him since he's got no one in his corner, Buck begins to fall into deep despair. Inevitably, one day the the bullies take it that one step too far and end up causing a horrific incident that finally has the 118 realizing just how badly they've wronged their Buck, especially Eddie and Bobby. Will they be able to make amends for their collective huge mistake? Will Buck even let them?
