Summary
Saruman believes that Isildur's Heir is carrying the ring, so he sends his orcs to capture the Men of the Fellowship. Aragorn and Boromir are taken prisoner at Parth Galen and brought to Orthanc. In the days that follow, the two men forge a friendship that endures through torture, war, blood, betrayal and the trials of kingship.
This is an AU that picks up at the final scene of the Fellowship of the Ring movie, then takes off on a course roughly parallel to the two later books.
Rated Mature for violence.

One of the first LOTR fics I've ever read and one that will stick with me for a while. Protective big-brother Boromir at his finest.

Faramir finds himself falling ill, at first with only a minor cough. And then with flower petals crawling up from his lungs and threatening to choke him. Hanahaki is a rare and fatal illness, caused by the intense feeling of unrequited love. Faced with the prospect of death at his unworthiness, Faramir struggles to think of someone he's so deeply in love with that it could cause this.

This fic makes the Hanahaki disease feel like it was created *for* Faramir — such a brilliant take on his character and the ways in which he loves. A tragic ending but immensely worth it.
