“They lied to you. I lied to you. You died like you were supposed to and that was the end of it. But you’re back,” Bucky’s voice lifts helpless, disbelieving, “You’re alive. And you need to know. That you’re not who you think you are. You’re an orphan. Your mother gave you up the day you were born. They found you in the orphanage and the tests started right away. They never stopped testing you. They made you sick so you’d find a way to survive. They sent the bullies so you’d learn to fight.”
“What are you talking about? Who’s ‘they’?” Steve’s voice is too sharp.
“Erskine. Zola. Hydra before it was Hydra,” Bucky gestures through the air, “They’ve always had us, Steve. From day one.” His eyes focus on Steve’s face, “You’ve always been a science experiment.”
“Bucky,” Steve voice is dismayed, “That doesn’t— Why would they make me sick?”
Bucky looks at him for a second. “Blond hair, blue eyes. You had all the right ingredients. But Erskine knew it was what was inside that counted,” Bucky knocks two fingers against his chest and Steve realizes they’re shaking, “He didn’t just find a guy who would jump on a grenade, Steve,” Bucky’s eyebrows lift, “He made one.”

Summary
Some days Bucky wakes up and remembers nothing, not even the name of the naked, suspiciously well-muscled guy in his bed. Steve calls them zero days. So when Bucky just happens to hint that he’s into lap dances, Steve goes full-on superhero-strategist to win Bucky’s heart on a zero day and give him the lap dance he deserves. (This is not an AU! Summary
Then Bucky licks his lips, tip of his tongue just grazing the sensitive skin of Steve’s ear and Steve moans. Nothing close to the surge of lust behind his ribs, but a tiny, breathy sound all the same. Bucky doesn’t react—he must not have heard. Though a minute later he curls his fingers and extends them again, moving just slow enough for it to be a caress.
Just tip your head into his touch. He’ll take the lead and trace the folds of your ear with his tongue until you can’t keep quiet any more. Then he’ll smother your desperate little noises with his mouth, fingers twisting in your hair. Kissing deeply, tongues reaching to declare your filthy intentions. Find his knee with your hand and slide wolfishly up his thigh until you reach the bulge behind his fly. Steve jolts back to the present. The credits are rolling and Bucky is reading them as well. The screen blacks and two fluorescent lights buzz to life. Bucky loosens his hand from Steve’s head, welcoming the world back in.

Summary
Bucky eats another spoonful of oatmeal and sets down the bowl. Then he drops his whole body into the beat. All his joints loose, just swaying and throwing himself to the pulse from the speakers.
…okay.
“How— how are you feeling?”
Bucky stills his upper body. Knees bouncing easy, head bobbing. He holds Steve’s eyes. Is that— a nod? Or—?
Probably a nod. Continue like this is normal, “You seem like you’re feeling a lot more— energetic? That’s good.”
Steve nods and finds himself idiotically matching Bucky and nodding to the beat. He jolts to still his head.
“Okay, well.”
The song has been strangely mellow for a while and suddenly the beat drops in, hard and twice as fast. Bucky drops with it, slamming his head back and forth to the throbbing sound. Too fast, hair a tangled blur.
Steve stares. Speechless. He wills himself not flee the room with every ounce of conviction he has and soaks in the most exquisite embarrassment he has ever known.
