Summary
"All I Want for Christmas is You” is blasting in Harrods and your blood pressure is rising with every jingle bell, every chorus, every crescendo. Nothing against Mariah, and this song is obviously note for note perfect, but it’s not doing anything to alleviate your stress. You’ve elbowed your way past the slow-moving, gawking tourists and been through every department in this goddamn store twice, looking for the perfect something that says Merry Christmas you horrible spoiled ridiculous brat who I happen to love or something like it despite repeated warnings and past experiences like for example stabbings and shootings and public displays of violence and shockingly, you aren’t having any luck. So far, all you’ve accomplished is hitting your step goal, a chaotic series of ultimately futile google searches (“best gifts for millennials”, “christmas presents for first year of dating(?)”, “cheap presents for former assassins”, etc), and the dewey sheen of sweat that’s started to show on your face.
