Maharlika watches the water, it was tranquil, the early dawn's light reflecting over the bay. Everyone was chatting and moving, bags were hauled onto the ship, roll calls being made.
"This is it," a voice says and she smiles, turning to look at Josephine, her hair in a loose braid, a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Breathtakingly beautiful. "I'm going home,"
"You are," Maharlika nudges her with her shoulder, the lack of her arm a strange sensation but she is learning. "Are you excited about seeing them again? Settle in Antiva again?"
"I am," Josephine's eyes are miles away and Maharlika wonders what she sees. "But I worry what if I have changed?" Her eyes meet hers. Maharlika knows that feeling.
How could she not?
"We all have," she gestures to her lost arm and Josephine's expression wrinkles but Maharlika continues before she could say anything. "But we learn, we try to live again."
