“Sensei” he beams.
“Yuuji” he helps him to stand on shaky legs, so he can lean against the old stone wall “Sensei’s here now, everything is going to be alright” he smiles reassuringly.
“They said they were moving up the execution even though there’s still one finger left” he sighs sadly already resigned to his fate “I’m glad I get to see you before…you know…” he trails off awkwardly.
“Yuuji why so quick to throw your life away? Did you forget the promise you made already?” He teases lightly knowing full well that Yuuji remembers everything that Satoru’s ever told him.
“I didn’t forget” Yuuji pouts defiantly “but…are you sure it’s ok sensei?”
“Do you still want to be with sensei like we discussed?” He asks with bated breath because he knows he’s far too selfish to let Yuuji go. Deep down if Yuuji says no he knows he’d rather spend lifetimes begging for forgiveness than living a life without Yuuji in it.
“Of course I still want to stay with sensei, I don’t…I don’t want to die” he looks so unbelievably young and vulnerable when he says it that it steals Satoru’s non existent breath.
“Then it’s ok” Satoru reassures him “Yuuji will still be Yuuji, you’ll just be like me”
