Summary
Ever since he was a child, Naruto has lived with an itch beneath his skin. Victory dulls it, if only for a little while. In the midst of casual hookups, Naruto discovers that the only thing capable of stilling the relentless ache inside him is the quiet that follows whenever he and Sasuke are together. During a diplomatic mission, Naruto decides he cannot settle for half of Sasuke, pushing him farther away than he's ever been.
A year afterwards, Sasuke finally comes home. He expects distance, awkwardness, and regret. What he does not expect is that Naruto has been waiting for him the whole time. As the two of them slowly find their way back to one another, old habits give way to a renewed bond. No matter how hard Sasuke tries, he cannot isolate himself from Naruto for long.
But peace has never lasted long for either of them. When the past returns in a form neither of them can ignore, the fragile life they've begun to build is tested in ways neither love nor strength can solve. As old wounds reopen and impossible choices loom, both are forced to confront a question he has spent his entire life avoiding:
