Summary
Leto I Atreides sits on a bench, overlooking one of Caladan’s many oceans. Beside him, his son has just finished telling him perhaps the most unbelievable and terrifying tale he’s heard in his entire life.
Yesterday, Leto’s son had been a reserved, yet happy young boy. He was quiet, studious and affectionate. He had the finest combat training Leto could provide, but he wasn’t a warrior - he had never taken a life, and would never be forced to if Leto had his way. The way Paul looked up to him craving approval and pride clearly reflected his youth. He was a child.
This Paul, sitting next to him, is no longer a child. Trials and suffering have stripped his childhood from him. It is painfully clear that Paul had not been a child in a long time. This Paul is a battle hardened, blood soaked adult.
Aka. Paul travels back in time to save his father.

This is no dumb animal, Paul realizes with a sudden chill.
'Who are you, little mouse,' the susurrations of the waiting worm seem to say. 'You are no child of my desert. What manner of creature are you that enters my domain?'
'I am no one, Great Maker,' his trembling fingers reply as they sink into the dusty grains beneath them. They grasp at the rough texture in desperation, in supplication before this desert god. 'I am lost. My family is gone, my people are scattered, and I, with them. Where do I go from here?'
tldr; I prompted myself: 'ok cool cool but like, what if Paul could speak to sandworms?'
