Mousey’s hooves clattering against stone instead of dirt was the quietest rise in volume, almost lost to the din of more people than the tavern would see in a year. It could be overwhelming, the domesticated smell of life compared to the richness in the forest he’d just left, but it was life nonetheless and it always filled his heart with no small measure of glee. The world remained oblivious to his awe, and soon the wagon was swallowed into the swollen flow of traffic into the market district.
Claggor returns from the city with supplies for the tavern he runs in his fathers' absence with a little more than he bargained for.
