Summary
One of the women stuck around after the others left, a pretty brunette sitting at the bar, nursing her drink. She hasn’t said a word since she ordered her drink, but in Pam’s experience people don’t sit at the bar unless they want to talk.
“You’re not from Houston, are you?” Pam asks as she wipes down the bar in front of her.
The woman glances around, as if to confirm that Pam is, indeed, speaking to her. “Is it that obvious?”
“Just a hunch,” Pam says with a shrug. “I’m Pam, by the way.”
“Ellen,” the woman, Ellen, says. “Ellen Waverly."

Summary
Pam has a plan. A clean, sensible, self-protective plan.
Then Ellen opens the back door with a grin, and Pam's fever is a hundred and three by two in the morning, and somewhere between that and waking up in borrowed clothes with a mug of tea pressed into her hands, the plan stops mattering.
They don't do this. Ellen's been deliberate about that. Pam has always understood the rules of what they are.
But she's starting to think Ellen might not be as good at following them as she thought.
